Masahisa Nakamura

Nakamura's expertise and influence extend beyond academia through his associations with various national and international institutions. In Japan, he has collaborated with the Environment Agency, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation, the Shiga Prefectural Government, and the Japan Society for Civil Engineers. His international engagements include roles with WHO, UNEP, and the World Bank, as well as contributions to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

He has managed projects for the GEF and Japan’s Ministry of Education, focusing mainly on Integrated Lake Basin Management (ILBM). He has received several prestigious grants and recognitions, and his contributions to environmental research have been recognized with invitations to speak at the UN.

He has also published extensively on lake basin management and environmental governance topics. His recent works include influential publications on developing ILBM processes and guidelines, reflecting his ongoing commitment to advancing sustainable environmental practices and policies.
