"Youth in Action for Lakes”

Join the Youth Session: Young Changemakers Protecting the World’s Lakes!

To achieve SDGs 6 and promote Sustainable Lake Management (SLM), youth from around the world are coming together!

What to Expect

★ Film Session & Discussion – Watch inspiring short films of youth-led lake conservation projects and discuss achievements, challenges, and sustainability strategies.

★ Strengthening International Networks – Connect, exchange ideas, and amplify World Lake Day initiatives.

How to join

★ If you are attending the conference you can add this to your registration during the registration process (either virtually or in person)

★ If you cannot attend in person you can select virtual only access.

★ Gain Inspiration – Learn from real-world youth projects and innovative solutions.

★ Take Action – Be part of a movement empowering youth to safeguard lakes for future generations.


Program (tentative)

1. Opening (10 min)
The moderator will introduce the objectives of the session, and a summary of past and ongoing youth initiatives.

2. Message from a Youth Representative (5 min)
Children will share their hopes, ideas, and vision for a future

3. Film Session (75 min)
Experience the impact of youth-led projects through 15 inspiring short films, featuring efforts from:

  • High school students

  • University students

  • Young researchers & professionals

Each group will present innovative solutions and challenges faced in lake conservation, followed by a live Q&A.

4. Discussion (50 min)

  • Key achievements and challenges in youth-led initiatives

  • Setting measurable goals for future activities

  • Exploring action plans, including contributions to World Lake Day

  • Strengthening international networking and youth leadership

5. Launch of Online Platform (5 min)

A platform for youth engagement in lake conservation will be introduced. This will enable information sharing, collaboration, and continuous action for Sustainable Lake Management.

6. Closing (5 min)

The session will conclude with a summary of discussions, key takeaways, and next steps for ensuring the continuity and impact of youth initiatives.
